Dear Harrison Township Resident,
On Saturday, February 17th from 2pm to 9pm, the Fire District will be holding it’s annual Fire District Election. The polling location will be at the Harrison Township Municipal Building located at 114 Bridgeton Pike. All Harrison Township registered voters are encouraged to come out and support the Fire District as we continue to provide the best possible fire protection to our residents, while remaining fiscally responsible for your tax dollars. The Fire District is asking for the capped 2% increase to the 2018 budget as allowed by the current law. Given the growth of the township’s tax base over the last year, this very minimal tax increase will equate to about a tenth of a cent increase to your fire district tax rate for 2018. The Fire District wishes to remain transparent with our residents by sharing this information of an extremely small tax increase, all the while, ensuring we can maintain our current level of fire service and continue to do so as Harrison Township continues to grow in the future. The Harrison Twp. Fire District will still continue to have the lowest fire tax rate within Gloucester County. A breakdown of the tax and the rate is listed below:
Tax rate per $100.00 (2017) = 0.076
Anticipated Tax rate per $100.00 (2018) = 0.077
The average home in 2017 was accessed at 340,968.00.
The assessed fire district tax was $259.14.
The projected fire tax for 2018 is $262.55 for that same average home.
That is a difference of $3.41 cents a year or about .29 cents a month.
The Fire District would like to Thank You in advance for your support of our annual budget and your continued support of the Fire District in the future.
On behalf of the
Board of Fire Commissioners
Chairman Ken Powell
Thank You!
